Florida’s Palm Beach Symphony raised $44,176 in one day while participating in Palm Beach County’s first-ever “Great Give” online fundraising event. The orchestra was the third-largest fundraiser out of 330 other local participating nonprofits. Led by the Community Foundation for Palm Beach and Martin Counties and United Way of Palm Beach County, the fundraiser took place over a 24-hour period on May 6 to raise money for local nonprofits. Palm Beach Symphony Executive Director David McClymont stated that the Symphony’s success was based on a combination of strong member support, community engagement, and a social media campaign. For the orchestra, Classical South Florida Radio provided live streaming from City Place and Downtown at the Gardens venues. Additionally, LionMaus Media provided a social media approach that married the likenesses of classic composers with modern-day pop music references. Proceeds from the fundraiser will allow the orchestra to continue to offer free concerts for disadvantaged children and bring programs taught by professional musicians to schools, and to continue to provide concert performances in unusual venues. Cumulatively, the one-day giving event raised $1.9 million in support of local causes in Palm Beach and Martin counties.
