With the National Park Service set to observe its centennial in 2016, and with the National Endowment for the Arts marking its 50th anniversary in 2015, the two organizations are partnering for a new $1 million grant initiative called “Imagine Your Parks.” Funding will be provided through the NEA’s Art Works category to support projects using the arts to engage people with places and landscapes within the National Park System. Projects in all arts disciplines are eligible; they may take place at and around the National Park System, or elsewhere in the U.S. with a focus on the work and mission of the National Park Service. The NEA will launch its 50th-anniversary celebration in September 2015, and will highlight stories and hosts events about the arts throughout the year. The National Park Service’s official centennial falls on August 25, 2016, with a two-year celebration set to begin in 2015. For more information, visit arts.gov. Prospective grantees may also register to join a January 21 webinar.
