The Los Angeles Philharmonic has announced the appointment of composer ANDREW NORMAN as director of its Composer Fellowship Program, which offers high-school-aged composers two years of lessons, reading sessions, lectures, performance opportunities, and encounters with established composers. Norman will guide each of the fellows during the composition process, which culminates with a premiere of the new work by the LA Phil at Walt Disney Concert Hall. The 2013-15 class of fellows, now completing the program, will have their works premiered on April 23 and April 24 of this year along with Dvorák’s “New World” Symphony. The next class of students will begin their two-year fellowship in the fall of 2015.
