From April 25 to 29, the Boston University Center for New Music is presenting IRCAM @ BU CNM, a conference for New England-area composers, electronic musicians, researchers, and students. The conference is being held at Boston University and the Institute of Contemporary Art/Boston and is co-produced with France’s IRCAM-Centre Pompidou and the ICA/Boston, and will include concerts, demonstrations, and hands-on workshops. Presentation topics will include immersive 3-D audio technologies, computer-aided composition, and building performance spaces and infrastructure for spatialized music. During the conference the Boston University Symphony Orchestra and Chorus will perform a program of music by Schoenberg, Beethoven, and Beat Furrer, who is in the midst of a three-week residency at Boston University. Two other concerts will feature Boston-based contemporary-music ensemble Sound Icon in music by Pierre Boulez, Beat Furrer, and Tristan Murail, and the JACK Quartet performing music by Chaya Czernowin and Jonathan Harvey.
