The Colorado Music Festival is in the midst of its summer season in Boulder, Colorado, led by Music Director Jean-Marie Zeitouni and featuring the festival orchestra and collaborators including cellist Joshua Roman, violinist Vadim Gluzman, and composer/harpist Hannah Lash. This summer’s presentations include an all-Russian concert featuring Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition, paired with projected animation, and “Black Fly: A Concert for Voice, Body, and Strings,” a concert by violinist Daniel Bernard Roumain and poet Marc Bamuthi. Upcoming programs include remixes of works by Bach, Beethoven, and Mozart, curated by turntablist Paul Miller (aka DJ Spooky) and featuring conductor Chris Rountree leading the wild Up ensemble; and the world premiere of Hannah Lash’s Harp Concerto No. 2, featuring the composer as soloist. The season concludes on August 7 with Zeitouni leading Stravinsky’s “Dumbarton Oaks” Concerto, Schubert’s Symphony No. 5, and Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 5 (“Emperor”), with Olga Kern as soloist.
