Ohio’s Canton Symphony has formed a new membership group for young patrons called The BEAT, which will include social events, discounted concert tickets, and backstage interactions with CSO musicians. Membership carries a $40 annual fee and includes access to social networking events; a 25 percent discount on CSO concert tickets; a onetime discount of 25 percent for a friend of the member; and admission to the Club Z hospitality lounge for all masterworks concerts. The first BEAT event is a free “Rock Legends” pre-concert party for November 10 pops concert called “The Music of Bowie & Prince,” offering complimentary food and a cash bar. Other BEAT events this season include a free post-concert party after the orchestra’s February 11 concert with the Kent, Ohio-based band The Speedbumps, and an open rehearsal and mixer on March 23 prior to the masterworks concert titled “Beethoven and His Contemporaries.” Barb Mucci, the orchestra’s director of development, says The BEAT is “designed for our young professionals who want to be involved in the organization. They will have opportunities to network with other members in our community while enjoying social activities surrounding orchestra events.”
