This summer’s Sphinx Performance Academy will be held for the first time at the Cleveland Institute of Music. From July 23 to August 6, students will live on the Case Western Reserve University campus, study at CIM with Sphinx faculty, and meet with admissions counselors from both schools to learn about the music school admission process. The Performance Academy, a program of the Sphinx Organization, provides full scholarships to an intensive chamber music and solo performance program for 32 aspiring Black and Latino string players, ages 12 to 17, from around the country. The Sphinx Organization’s mission is to build diversity in the classical music world through educational programs, artistic development, and arts leadership. Host institutions for SPA in previous summers included Roosevelt University in Chicago, Oberlin Conservatory in Ohio, and Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois.
