“Akron Symphony Orchestra officials have announced details on the 2017-18 season,” reads an unsigned Thursday (6/15) article in the West Side Leader (Akron, OH). “It will include … collaborations with Neos Dance Theatre and the Cleveland Jazz Orchestra; the 25th anniversary of Gospel Meets Symphony; and the Northeast Ohio debut of ‘Video Games Live.’ The season will open … with Dvorák’s Symphony No. 7 and Tchaikovsky’s ‘Marche Slave.’ The Classic Series also will include: excerpts from Richard Wagner’s ‘Die Meistersinger’ … along with Beethoven’s Symphony No. 7; ‘Pictures at an Exhibition’  [with] visual projections above the orchestra; … Brahms’ Symphony No. 2; a Carnival/Mardi Gras celebration on Feb. 9 with Neos Dance Theatre in a fully staged performance of Stravinsky’s ‘Petrushka’; ‘Planet Earth’ … featuring projected imagery accompanying Vaughan Williams’ ‘Sinfonia Antartica’; and Verdi’s Requiem  … featuring the combined forces of the Akron Symphony Chorus and Summit Choral Society….
