The New York City-based Orchestra of St. Luke’s has announced the appointment of KATY CLARK as executive director and ZEV GREENFIELD as vice president for finance and operations. As the orchestra’s chief executive Clark succeeds MARIANNE LOCKWOOD, who has led the OSL since its founding in 1974 and will retain the title of president until her retirement in August 2010. Clark joined the orchestra’s staff in 2005 as director of development, and has served as managing director for the past two years. From 2001 to 2004 she headed the Philadelphia Chapter of the American Composers Forum, having recently completed a year of intensive training in the League of American Orchestras’ Orchestra Management Fellowship Program. Between 1994 and 1999 Clark was a violinist in the BBC Symphony Orchestra, and she has performed with various other orchestras in the U.K. as well as with the Opera Company of Philadelphia and the Chamber Orchestra of Philadelphia. She holds a bachelor’s degree in history from Cambridge University, a master’s in performance from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and a certificate in arts management from Birkbeck College, University of London. Zev Greenfield, the OSL’s new vice president for finance and operations, had served previously as general manager of New York’s Orpheus Chamber Orchestra. He had earlier enjoyed a career as a business consultant in his native Australia and as an executive with Citigroup’s Corporate and Investment Bank. While pursuing an MBA from Columbia University he worked pro bono as a strategic consultant to the New York Philharmonic.
