In Sunday’s (10/18) Great Falls Tribune (Montana), Jeni Todd writes, “The Great Falls Symphony is inviting community members to submit their favorite current and historical photos of local or Montana scenes for a special multimedia project combining classical music and the imagery. The selected photographs will become a visually choreographed presentation that will be partnered with a musical composition by Great Falls native Richard Pearson Thomas. The symphony will present the combined work at its March 27 concert. ‘When you think of how many images you can see to accompany 15 minutes of music, we’re going to need a lot of images,’ said Carolyn Valacich, executive director of the symphony. … The symphony commissioned Thomas to create the musical composition last year. … Thomas is an award-winning composer whose works have been performed by the Boston Pops Orchestra and the Houston Grand Opera. They have been played at the Covent Garden Festival and in Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center and Kennedy Center, as well as for Congress. His work with young people was featured on the CBS ‘Early Show.’ ”
