The Tucson Symphony Orchestra is extending its TEAMtix program—in which middle- and high-school band, orchestra, and choir students attend concerts free—for three more years. The program is supported by the Arizona-based Marshall Foundation, which provides a free ticket for the music student, with the TSO matching that with a ticket for a companion. Launched last year, TEAMtix issued more than 1,500 tickets to 24 events, with nearly 1,300 students registering for the program. Students in the Amphi, Ajo, Catalina Foothills, Marana, Oracle, Sahuarita, Sunnyside, Tucson Unified, and Vail school districts are eligible for TEAMtix, along with students from private and charter schools and members of the Tucson Junior Strings, Tucson Philharmonia Youth Orchestra, the Tucson Arizona Boys Chorus, the Tucson Girls Chorus and students at the Music and Dance Academy. The Tucson Symphony offers a $500 cash prize for the music department of the school that registers the most students for TEAMtix by October 1.
