“A group of Northeast Ohio musicians is banding together next week in support of the victims of Hurricane Harvey,” writes Zachary Lewis in Thursday’s (7/31) Cleveland Plain Dealer. “On Friday, Sept. 8, a group of artists from the Cleveland Orchestra, the Cleveland Institute of Music, Oberlin Conservatory, and Credo Music will hold a benefit concert at Severance Hall, the proceeds of which will go to the American Red Cross. The concert, titled “’elp After Harvey: A Benefit Concert for the American Red Cross,’ will commence at 7 p.m. and be conducted by James Feddeck, a former assistant conductor of the Cleveland Orchestra and an alumnus of the Oberlin Conservatory. ‘The concert will center on the idea that we are stronger when we join together, with this grouping of musicians of the Greater Cleveland community serving as a tangible model of that truth,’ read a statement announcing the event. On the program will be Stravinsky’s 1919 suite from ‘The Firebird,’ Barber’s Adagio for Strings, Copland’s ‘Fanfare for the Common Man,’ John Williams’ Overture to ‘The Cowboys,’ Louis Panella’s ‘The American Red Cross March,’ and ‘The Star-Spangled Banner.’ ”
