Early Music America, a nonprofit service organization for the field of historical performance in North America, has announced the appointment of KARIN BROOKES as executive director. Brookes goes to Early Music America from Early Music Seattle, where she has been development director since 2015. She has also worked in Seattle for the Northwest Boychoir and for Pacific MusicWorks. A native of the U.K., Brookes lived and worked in London, Philadelphia, and Glasgow before moving to Seattle with her family in 2011. In the U.K., she was assistant to Christopher Hogwood and manager of the Choir of King’s College, Cambridge. Brookes has degrees in French and music from the Universities of Edinburgh and Cambridge, and a master of journalism degree from Temple University, Philadelphia. She lives in Seattle with her husband, Simon Woods, president and CEO of the Seattle Symphony, and has a son at Oberlin College and a daughter who is a high school junior.
