The New Haven Symphony Orchestra in Connecticut announced that its “Buy-a-Note” campaign to raise funds for the orchestra’s music education programs has raised $14,000 toward its goal of $20,000 for the year. The campaign, which ends on November 18, raises money to provide programs for more than 30,000 children in the Greater New Haven area, including the orchestra’s Young People’s Concerts, Family Concert Series, and Showcase of Young Artists. The orchestra marks contributions of “musical notes” as double whole notes ($200), whole notes ($100), half notes ($50), and quarter notes ($25). The orchestra will thank donors in a special acknowledgment advertisement in the New Haven Register on November 23, 2009.
