On December 8, three alumni of the Los Angeles Philharmonic’s Youth Orchestra Los Angeles (YOLA) program perform in Stockholm, Sweden during Nobel Week, which features the 2017 Nobel Prize Concert with Gustavo Dudamel conducting the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra. These YOLA alumni will join a new Orchestra of the Future, made up of young musicians from El Sistema-inspired programs on five continents. The Orchestra of the Future, conducted by Dudamel, will perform before the Nobel laureates, the Swedish royal family, and guests in the Green Room of the Stockholm Concert Hall. Earlier in the day, the group will attend the dress rehearsal of the Nobel Prize Concert, featuring the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Dudamel. During Nobel Week, El Sistema Sweden will host a visit to one of its sites, where the young musicians will engage in side-by-side music activities. The three participating YOLA alumni are Moses Aubrey, a junior studying bass performance at UCLA; Daniel Egwurube, a junior studying flute performance at University of Nevada Las Vegas; and Juliana Rodriguez, a sophomore studying viola performance at San Francisco Conservatory.
