The board of trustees of New England Conservatory of Music in Boston voted to approve a new strategic plan for fiscal years 2009-10 through 2015-16. The plan resulted from more than a year’s work by students, alumni, faculty, board, and staff. The five priorities, as outlined by NEC President Tony Woodcock, will be: 1) increased scholarship and financial aid; 2) adding faculty and programs, to include expansion of preparatory programs and continuing education programs, as well as creation of educational programs based on the El Sistema model; 3) campus redevelopment, to include a new dormitory, library, and practice and performance space; 4) technology expansion, including distance learning opportunities; and 5) finding new sources of revenue.
