Hopes and Dreams, a recording inspired by Carnegie Hall’s Lullaby Project, will be released on April 20 on the Decca Gold label. The Lullaby Project is a program of Carnegie Hall’s Weill Music Institute that pairs pregnant women, new mothers, and family members with artists to write and sing personal lullabies for their babies, supporting maternal health, aiding child development, and strengthening the bond between parent and child. Hopes and Dreams: The Lullaby Project will feature fifteen lullabies written by parents from across New York City, as performed by Fiona Apple, the Brentano String Quartet, Lawrence Brownlee, Rosanne Cash, Joyce DiDonato, Janice Freeman (The Voice 2017), Rhiannon Giddens, Angélique Kidjo, Patti LuPone, Natalie Merchant, Dianne Reeves, Gilberto Santa Rosa, Pretty Yende, and Catherine Zeta-Jones. Since the first Lullaby Project in 2011, more than 800 lullabies have been written and recorded throughout the U.S. and internationally. Among the U.S. orchestras participating in the Lullaby Project are the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Flint School of Performing Arts (Michigan), Oregon Symphony, Seattle Symphony Orchestra, and the Music Settlement (Ohio).
