Grantmakers in the Arts has published Arts Funding Snapshot: GIA’s Annual Research on Support for Arts and Culture, offering analysis of foundation support to the arts in 2015, and an overview of local, state, and federal public funding for the arts in 2017. The overall findings indicate that total public funding levels for the arts have not kept pace with inflation, and have decreased by 12.8% over the past 20 years. Meanwhile, foundation grant dollars for the performing arts increased by 8% from 2014 to 2015, while overall grant dollars to the arts were unchanged.
