On May 5, North Carolina’s Salisbury Symphony will perform a joint concert with country singer/songwriter Darrell Harwood, a native of China Grove, North Carolina, at Catawba College’s Keppel Auditorium in Salisbury. The first half of the program will feature Music Director David Hagy conducting the orchestra in music by Elmer Bernstein (Magnificent Seven), John Williams (The Cowboys), Adrienne Albert (Western Suite), Aaron Copland (Rodeo), and Michael Daugherty (American Gothic). Harwood and his band will perform orchestral arrangements of Harwood’s original songs on the second half, including “Out With A Bang,” “One For The Money,” “Fixer Upper,” “Love You More,” “Stand Together,” “Mama I Hate To See You Cry,” and “Magic Cowboy Hat.” Audience members are encouraged to wear cowboy hats and jeans, and the concert will include a light show and special effects. A pre-concert pop-up bar will serve snacks and drinks, and an after-party with Harwood is planned, with proceeds going to the orchestra.
