In Tuesday’s (11/10) Post-Standard (Syracuse, New York), Melinda Johnson writes, “Syracuse Symphony Orchestra will conduct a nationwide search for a new executive director following the resignation of Karen Gahl-Mills, its president and executive director. Gahl-Mills was named executive director of Cuyahoga Arts and Culture on Monday. A task force, headed by board member Alice Kendrick, has been organized to conduct a nationwide search. Deputy County Executive Ed Kochian will serve as interim executive director until Gahl-Mill’s successor is hired. Cuyahoga Arts and Culture disburses grants using public funds from the county’s cigarette tax. It has awarded more than $33.5 million in grants to 145 arts and cultural organizations in the county, which includes Cleveland.”
