“Owensboro Symphony Orchestra Music Director and Conductor Troy Quinn has been given a three-year extension on his contract that would have expired after the 2020 season,” writes Bobbie Hayse in Friday’s (6/22) Messenger-Inquirer (Owensboro, KY). “According to a press release sent by the symphony, the Governing Board of Directors unanimously approved the extension on Wednesday.… Dan Griffith, CEO of the symphony, said … Quinn has been bringing new people into Cannon Hall for the symphony’s performances.… The 2017-18 season had record-breaking audiences. Griffith said Quinn understands the Owensboro market and selects programming that is of interest to this community and region. ‘He is attracting attention within the industry and … quickly making a name for himself,’ Griffith said. Quinn was selected last week as the new music director of the Venice Symphony in Venice, Florida. He will conduct both the Owensboro and Venice symphonies and remain on the conducting faculty at the University of California in Los Angeles throughout his contract period, according to the OSO.
