The concert’s theme this year is ‘Traditions of Peace and Non-violence.’ … The UN Day marks the anniversary of the entry into force in 1945 of the UN Charter.” Lidiya Yankovskaya, who is based in the U.S. and whose family were refugees from Russia, founded the Refugee Orchestra Project the wake of the Syrian refugee crisis “to demonstrate the vitally important role that refugees from across the globe have played in our country’s culture and society.”
