“Christopher Confessore will be leading the Brevard Symphony Orchestra for at least another five years,” writes Michelle Spitzer in Thursday’s (3/14) Florida Today (central Florida). “It was announced … Thursday evening [that] the BSO board extended Confessore’s contract, taking him through his 30th year with the symphony. The 2023-24 season also will be the 70th anniversary for the BSO…. The BSO has grown significantly under Confessore’s guidance. It went from a few concerts per year to 12 subscription series concerts and many community educational and outreach programs…. Also announced Thursday evening was the lineup for the upcoming BSO season, ‘Up Close and Classical.’ The 2019-2020 season of concerts includes the BSO’s main subscription series, the Signature Six, which kicks off Nov. 16. The opening show, ‘The Planets,’ will celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 moon landing. The season also includes a three-concert Matinee Series and a new series, Summer Evenings, consisting of three chamber music programs.” David Schillhammer is the Brevard Symphony’s executive director.
