The Chicago-based International Music Foundation’s annual free Tuesday-evening concerts at St. James Cathedral on East Huron Street will begin on June 4 with musicians from the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and Lyric Opera Orchestra performing Johannes Brahms’s Sextet in B-Flat Major, Op. 18. The 30-minute rush-hour concert series continues through August 13 with performances by the Gaudete Brass Quintet, Eighth Blackbird, the Spektral Quartet, Civitas Ensemble, Avalon String Quartet, Sejong Society musicians, and the St. James Cathedral Choir. Concerts will feature music by Bach, Beethoven, Bloch, Rossini, Schubert, and Shostakovich, plus contemporary works by composers including Joan Tower, Stacy Garrop, Tania León, Nina Shekhar, Viet Cuong, Sara Snider, Holly Harrison, Ernest Bloch, Rebecca Clarke, Kotoka Suzuki, and Chen Yi.
