“Solano County audiences over the years have become familiar with the plentiful talent demonstrated by the Sacramento Youth Symphony,” writes Richard Bammer in Monday’s (7/1) Vacaville Reporter (Solano County, CA). “Under the direction of Susan Lamb-Cook, the players, ages 12 to 19, will perform a free concert at the Vacaville Museum at 2 p.m. July 13. Part of the museum’s newly established Arts & Lecture Series, the one-hour program will feature works by Beethoven, Corelli, Haydn, Mozart and Britten. Lamb-Cook plans to introduce each piece…. The musicians … undergo intensive training in performance skills, ensemble playing, chamber music literature and rehearsal technique during a summer teaching and learning period. ‘The proof is in the playing,’ said Lanie Keystone, executive director of the 213 Buck Ave. venue, a center for Solano County history. ‘Audiences respond to their concerts with overwhelming enthusiasm, joy and awe.’ … The concert and ongoing educational series is part of the museum’s community outreach efforts, serving, in part, to highlight the current exhibition, ‘Through the Lens: Our Fruitful Heritage,’ said Keystone.”
