On July 14, the Des Moines Symphony will perform its first free outdoor pops concert at the newly constructed Lauridsen Amphitheater at Water Works Park, a program of Broadway, pop, and soul music featuring vocalist Renée Elise Goldsberry (in photo), followed by fireworks. The Water Works Pops series will continue on July 28 with music by John Williams from his Star Wars, Harry Potter, and other film scores, led by Music Director Joseph Giunta. General admission to the concerts will be free; attendees may bring picnic blankets or lawn chairs, and can purchase food and drinks at the event. Patrons also may purchase premium general admission tickets or upgrade to a package including a catered dinner, early access to seating, and reserved parking.
