The Eugene Symphony in Oregon has named JENNY ESTRIN concertmaster, commencing with the 2019-20 season. Estrin served as the orchestra’s acting concertmaster during the 2018-19 season, following the departure of Concertmaster Searmi Park in May 2017. Estrin has been a member of the Eugene Symphony’s violin section since 2014. Originally from Bloomington, Indiana, Estrin received a bachelor of music degree in violin performance from Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee, and pursued masters work at the Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University. In addition to her work with the Eugene Symphony, she is active in the Portland music scene, holding positions in the Portland Opera and Oregon Ballet Theater orchestras. Estrin is also a chamber musician, and plays in several non-classical ensembles including a folk band and a trio that incorporates global influences into their performances. Estrin was concertmaster of the Oregon Mahler Festival in 2015, principal second violin in the Eugene Concert Choir Orchestra for two seasons, and has performed in the Astoria Music Festival since 2012.
