“Charlotte Schroeder has announced her intention to exit the presidency of Colbert Artists Management as of year’s end and tapped as her successor Lee Prinz, current senior VP for artist management and booking,” writes Susan Elliott in Friday’s (9/27) Musical America (subscription required). “In an open letter to colleagues and friends, Schroeder traces her history with the agency: ‘My life with Colbert began in 1972, shortly after moving to New York…. The formidable Ann Colbert was the owner in 1972, having started the management in 1948 with husband Henry Colbert.’ Schroeder’s first job was as the receptionist, when the agency was still located in the old Steinway Building at 111 West 57th Street. (It has since moved to Manhattan’s Chelsea neighborhood.)… Years later, following the untimely death of Agnes Eisenberg (who succeeded the Colbert regime), Schroeder writes, ‘I found myself the owner of Colbert Artists Management.’ It was December 26, 2002. Lee Prinz arrived in 2003, she writes, ‘and immediately became an invaluable addition to the booking staff, rising to his current position…. He has, in fact, been leading the company for the past months with his characteristic joy, enthusiasm and superb professionalism.’ ”
