The Sphinx Organization has announced that it will live stream performances of the three semifinalists in the junior division of its annual competition for young black and Latino musicians. The event, on February 5 at noon (ET) at Rackham Auditorium at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, will be streamed live at Sphinx’s website. The Sphinx Competition is held every year in Ann Arbor and Detroit, Michigan and is open to middle school, high school, and college-age black and Latino string players from the U.S. The Sphinx Organization was established in 1996 by Aaron Dworkin to increase black and Latino participation in the field of classical music, bring music education to underserved communities, and to promote the creation, performance, and preservation of works by black and Latino composers.
