The deadline is March 1 for composers age 18 to 25 to apply to the Lake George Music Festival’s Composition Institute, held from August 15 to 21, 2020 in Lake George, New York. During the weeklong institute, composers will work closely with program director Alyssa Weinberg and quartet-in-residence The Rhythm Method, and participate in masterclasses with guest composers Donnacha Dennehy and David Ludwig. All seminars, rehearsals, lessons, and masterclasses will take place at the SUNY Adirondack campus, and meals and housing will be provided. Workshops, seminars, and discussions will center on issues relevant to the 21st-century musician. Composers will have the opportunity to attend all festival performances. Accepted students will compose a new work for string quartet prior to the start of the program; there will be a performance and professional recording of a new work written for the Rhythm Method String Quartet.
