The Cape Symphony and Conservatory in Hyannis, Massachusetts, has named MICHAEL ALBAUGH executive director. Albaugh goes to the Cape Symphony and Conservatory from the Philadelphia Orchestra, where he served as director of education and community initiatives, working on its Health, Education, Access and Research (HEAR) program; Free Neighborhood Concert series and New Audience New Places program; and the expansion of the All-City Orchestra with the addition of the All-City Orchestra Summer Academy. Prior to that, Albaugh was director of education operations at Jazz at Lincoln Center, and he created the Summer Jazz Academy at Bard College and the Junior Jazz Academy at Juilliard. Albaugh spent seven years as director of music at Michigan’s Interlochen Center for the Arts, where he worked alongside Cape Symphony Artistic Director and Conductor Jung-Ho Pak. Albaugh received a B.A. in music education and guitar performance from West Liberty State College in West Virginia. He holds an M.M. in composition with an emphasis in music technology from Bowling Green State University and a D.M.A. in composition with an emphasis in music theory from West Virginia University.
