Boston’s Handel and Haydn Society has appointed REGINALD MOBLEY to the newly created position of programming consultant. Mobley, currently director of the Handel and Haydn Society’s “Every Voice” program and a classically trained countertenor, will work to diversify the organization’s programming and reach new audiences. The organization will seek to expand the canon beyond Western European composers and increase representation from composers of color as well as women, members of the LGBTQ community, veterans, and more. Mobley will continue to lead the “Every Voice” program, which aims to connect with diverse communities. A native of Florida, Mobley studied at the University of Florida in Gainesville and Florida State University in Tallahassee. He was a member of the Seraphic Fire ensemble and has appeared with symphonies and at festivals across the world. His most recent recording projects include an all-Handel disc with Bach Akademie Stuttgart, and a recording of duets by Agostino Steffani with harpsichordist Jory Vinikour. Mobley has worked in musical theater, performing cabaret shows of gospel, jazz, and torch songs in jazz clubs around Tokyo.
