Astral Artists has announced six winners of its 2010 National Auditions, held over three days in January in Philadelphia: flutists Julietta Curenton (age 28) and Angel Hsiao (age 25); pianists Sara Daneshpour (age 22) and Andrea Lam (age 28); violinist Kristin Lee (age 23); and the Jasper Spring Quartet. The winners will be presented to the Philadelphia community in the Philadelphia Concert Series, featuring recitals, chamber music, and orchestral concerts with Symphony in C, based in Camden, New Jersey. They also will be showcased in concerts in New York; receive career guidance; collaborate with established musicians; and have the opportunity to audition for major presenters, managers, and conductors. Founded in 1992, Astral Artists is a Philadelphia-based nonprofit that provides performance opportunities and career advice to young musicians making the transition between conservatory training and professional music careers.
