“The leaders of 38 national nonprofits and nonprofit support groups sent a letter to the White House and leaders in Congress on Thursday calling on them to negotiate a Covid relief package now and not to wait until after the election,” writes Dan Parks in Thursday’s (9/24) Chronicle of Philanthropy (subscription required). “ ‘Congress and the administration must return to the negotiating table today and stay in Washington until a relief package is enacted that addresses the needs of the nonprofit sector,’ the letter states. Many members of Congress from both parties have hoped to enact another relief package soon, but the negotiations have bogged down. Signatories on the letter include leaders of the American Heart Association, Association of Art Museum Directors, Girl Scouts of the USA, Jewish Federations of North America, March of Dimes, Meals on Wheels America, Habitat for Humanity International, and United Way Worldwide.” The League of American Orchestras is among the arts organizations signing the letter.
