The Flint Symphony Orchestra has announced that its first 2021 performance will be a virtual family concert on February 6 featuring Stravinsky’s Pulcinella Suite and Prokofiev’s Peter and the Wolf, led by Music Director Enrique Diemecke. Cathy Prevett, the orchestra’s operations manager, will serve as narrator in the Prokofiev. As mandated by the Michigan Safe Start reopening plan, the FSO will not perform for a live, in-person audience. Instead, the concert is being offered as a “pay-what-you-wish” streamed event, available on demand for 30 days beginning February 6. Three additional virtual FSO concerts in 2021 will feature Brahms’s Symphony No. 2, Saint-Saëns’s Violin Concerto No. 3, with violinist Noelle Naito as soloist (March 6); Dvořák’s Symphony No. 9 (“From the New World”) and Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 4 with pianist Wanting Zhao as soloist (April 10); and Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 3 and Bruch’s Violin Concerto No. 2, with violinist Julian Rhee as soloist (May 8).
