In Tuesday’s (6/22) Ledger (Lakeland, Florida), Cary McMullen reports, “The Imperial Symphony Orchestra has hired an experienced orchestra manager and conductor as its next executive director. Albert Moehring was unanimously selected by the symphony’s board of directors at a meeting late Monday, said Martha Linder, chairwoman of the board. Moehring was the founder, conductor and executive director of the Charlotte (N.C.) Philharmonic Orchestra from 1990 to 2008. Although Moehring is trained as a conductor, Linder said, he will leave those duties to orchestra music director Mark Thielen and concentrate on managing the organization. ‘He’s happy not to have a dual role. His strongest skills are in management, which he does very well. He’s a very good fundraiser,’ Linder said. … Moehring will begin his position after the July 4 holiday.”
