“The late Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg may have left her greatest mark on the law, but she was also a champion for classical music,” writes Tim Diovanni in Friday’s (10/1) Dallas Morning News. “She regularly attended opera performances … and even performed a speaking role in Donizetti’s La Fille du Régiment. It is fitting, then, that the Dallas Symphony Orchestra will honor Ginsburg in a tribute concert on Oct. 7. For the event, the DSO has co-commissioned American composer Ellen Taaffe Zwilich … to write a work for orchestra, piano and mezzo soprano. Denyce Graves, who performed at Ginsburg’s memorial ceremony in the U.S. Capitol last year, will be the singer.… Pianist Jeffrey Biegel approached Zwilich with the idea of a memorial composition….
