The new works will premiere this spring by Boston-area ensembles Hub New Music, Unitas Ensemble, Boston String Academy, and Castle of our Skins. Other performers in 2022 will include clarinetist Anthony McGill, cellists Yo-Yo Ma and Sheku Kanneh-Mason, Imani Winds, Catalyst Quartet, Takács Quartet, Brooklyn Rider, and the Academy of St. Martin in the Fields led by director/violinist Joshua Bell. A new series of three free Neighborhood Arts concerts will take place at the Cambridge Public Library, marking Celebrity Series’ first Neighborhood Arts concerts at this venue. Two April 2022 performances at the Emerson Paramount Center will feature the multimedia The Just and the Blind, conceived and written by Marc Bamuthi Joseph with original music by Daniel Bernard Roumain; the work addresses racial profiling and mass incarceration and meditates on Black parenthood using music, dance, spoken word, and film. Events accompanying The Just and the Blind will be announced.
