Beginning in July, public television stations nationwide will broadcast the Cleveland Orchestra’s performance of Bruckner’s Symphony No. 7, led by Music Director Franz Welser-Möst. The 90-minute program, produced by Cleveland television station WVIZ/PBS, will air locally in Cleveland on July 3 at 9:30 p.m. and July 4 at 6:30 p.m. In addition to the Bruckner, the telecast will also feature the orchestra in a performance of George Benjamin’s Duet for Piano and Orchestra, with soloist Pierre-Laurent Aimard; that work was a co-commission for the orchestra with Carnegie Hall and the Lucerne Festival, sponsored by Roche, the pharmaceuticals company. The program was recorded at Cleveland’s Severance Hall in 2008 and was also released in 2009 as an Arthaus Musik DVD.
