The Chicago Philharmonic will perform the world premiere of Jonathan Bingham’s Tautology, a serenade in one movement, on its November 21 “Simply Serenades” program at North Shore Center for the Performing Arts in Skokie, Illinois. Bingham is one of three winners—together with Reinaldo Moya and Marcus Norris—of Chicago Philharmonic’s new composer-in-residence program. The three-year residency includes live performances of newly composed works for orchestra and chamber ensembles, a $2,500 award for each composer, a seat on the orchestra’s artistic committee, and development opportunities with Music Director Scott Speck. Speck will lead the November 21 program, which also will feature Brahms’s Serenade No. 2 in A Major and Dvořák’s Serenade for Winds. During the 2021-22 season, the orchestra is also performing world premieres of music by Marcus Norris and Reinaldo Moya.
