The Mizzou New Music Ensemble will perform a free concert on December 5 at the University of Missouri Campus at the Sinquefield Music Center in Columbia, Missouri. The concert will also be live-streamed on the University of Missouri School of Music’s YouTube channel. The program will include the second and third movements of Jacob Druckman’s Come Round and the world premiere of Reconstruct by Kyle Yerby, a University of Missouri music composition major. The ensemble will also perform two pieces by composers from Córdoba, Argentina, the hometown of Carolina Heredia, an assistant professor of music composition at the university and assistant director of the Mizzou New Music Initiative (MNMI). The works are part of a collaborative program between Universidad Nacional de Córdoba and the MNMI that began this fall; the December 5 program will feature works by Córdoba-based composers Rosario Serafin (Sonos) and Pedro Antonio Sota Taier (Desdoblar una grulla de papel y descubrir con sopresa que tiene un esqueleto). The Mizzou New Music Ensemble is part of the Mizzou New Music Initiative, an array of programs intended to position the University of Missouri School of Music as a center of composition and new music.
