On January 10 at 3 p.m. ET, the Leonard Bernstein Office and Indiana University Jacobs School of Music will co-present a free livestream panel discussion entitled “MASS at 50,” via the Indiana University website. Jamie Bernstein, Leonard Bernstein’s daughter, will moderate the panel about the history and impact of Bernstein’s 1971 work; panelists will include MASS lyricist Stephen Schwartz; conductors Marin Alsop, John Mauceri, and Wayne Marshall, all of whom have frequently led performances of the work; baritone Paulo Szot, who performed as the Celebrant in the recent Ravinia Festival production; baritone Douglas Webster, who has been in more than 20 productions of MASS; and Harvard University professor of music Carol Oja. Host Philip Ponella, chief digital officer at the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music, will welcome the webinar audience and introduce the panel. The 60-minute conversation will be followed by a Q&A with the virtual audience. For more information, visit the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music website.
