In Friday’s (9/10) Statesman Journal (Salem, Oregon), Barbara Curtin writes, “Salem Chamber Orchestra will open all its dress rehearsals to the public, starting Saturday. Noreen Murdock, the orchestra’s executive director, said this is a unique opportunity to hear how an orchestra prepares for a concert. The first dress rehearsal, ‘An Afternoon in New York,’ will be from 2:30 to 5 p.m. Saturday in Hudson Hall at Willamette University. This all-American program features violinist Dr. Daniel Rouslin in Samuel Barber’s Concerto for Violin, op. 14 and one of George Gershwin’s most famous pieces, ‘Rhapsody in Blue,’ with pianist Victor Steinhardt. Tickets for the rehearsal are $5 adults, $3 students, at the door.”
