For its 154th Anniversary Concert at the Academy of Music on January 29, 2011, the Philadelphia Orchestra has announced that its guest artists are Paul Simon and Renée Fleming. Lester Holt, weekend anchor for NBC’s Today and Nightly News, will serve as host for the evening, during which Fleming will perform opera arias and Simon will perform some of his best-known songs in new orchestrations. The concert and the ball that follows it benefit the Academy of Music Restoration Fund and The Philadelphia Orchestra. The Academy is a National Historic Landmark and was home to the orchestra for more than 100 years prior to its move to the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts in 2001.
