A report in Friday’s (3/4) Seattle Times states, “Maria Larionoff, Seattle Symphony concertmaster, has announced she’ll step down at the end of the 2010-11 season. Larionoff joined the symphony’s first violin section in 1990 and was named associate concertmaster in 1997. She became acting concertmaster in 2004 and was one of four Seattle Symphony concertmasters in the 2007-08 season. She was named The David and Amy Fulton Concertmaster in 2008. She’ll return to Benaroya as a soloist in January 2012, to perform Vasks’ Violin Concerto, ‘Distant Light,’ under guest conductor Vassily Sinaisky. Symphony-goers can hear Larionoff March 17, 19 and 20, when she performs Khachaturian’s Violin Concerto with Seattle Symphony.”
