In Friday’s (7/1) Morning Call (Allentown, Pennsylvania), John J. Moser writes, “A celebration of Allentown’s 250th birthday, two pops concerts, a new three-show dance series and comedy, family, holiday and jazz shows are on tap in the 2011-12 season of Allentown Symphony Hall, the venue announced Thursday. … Allentown’s birthday (as well as the 200th anniversary of Lehigh County) will be celebrated March 10 and 11 with Beethoven’s Symphony No. 6 and the world premiere of ‘Timeline,’ composed by Philip Rothman. Schadt Competition winner Petrit Ceku will solo on guitar. The celebration also features Rob Stoneback Big Band on March 16 with an opportunity to dance on the stage of Symphony Hall. … Another season highlight arrives April 14 and 15, when the orchestra performs Gustav Holst’s ‘The Planets,’ accompanied by a film of the planets by astronomer and video artist Jose Francisco Salgado.”
