The Chicago Chamber Musicians has announced its 2009-10 season, which will include a world premiere as part of its ongoing “Sounds and Spaces” series of concerts presented in architecturally significant spaces. The world premiere of Peter Lieberson’s The Coming of Light for baritone, oboe, and string quartet will take place on September 27 at the Frank Lloyd Wright-designed Unity Temple, which co-commissioned the work. CCM’s remaining 2009-10 concerts are presented at Pick-Staiger Concert Hall on Northwestern University’s Evanston campus, and at Anne and Howard Gottlieb Hall at Chicago’s Merit School of Music. Programs include an all-Baroque program of Bach, Vivaldi, Telemann, and Hertel; piano works by Tchaikovsky, Beethoven, and Hindemith, with soloist Men-Chieh Liu; a “Celebrating Schumann” in honor of the composer’s 200th birthday; and a program of Stravinsky, Poulenc, and Barber. The CCM’s free concerts will continue on the first Monday of each month at the Chicago Cultural Center.
