In Tuesday’s (1/10) Sioux City Journal (Iowa), Dave Dreeszen writes, “Missouri River Historical Development Inc. awarded gifts totaling $100,000 to three Woodbury County non-profits Monday night. The recipients, who were surprised with the donations [at the] MRHD’s annual holiday dinner … included … The Sioux City Symphony Orchestra’s school outreach program. David Krogh, SCSO executive director and director of development, accepted MRHD’s $25,000 gift, which will support the symphony’s efforts to take music into Siouxland schools for the cultural and education enrichment of all students.” The Sloan Public Library received $40,000 and $35,000 went to the Boys Club of Sioux City. “MRHD is local nonprofit group [that] jointly holds the state gaming license license for Woodbury County with its riverboat operator, Argosy Casino Sioux City. MRDH annually contributes its share of gaming revenues to various organizations and projects in the county. Monday’s presentations bring MRHD’s total grants and gifts to nearly $20 million since 1994.”
