What does it mean for an orchestra to really connect, not just with an audience, but with its community? This week on SymphonyNOW, League of American Orchestras President and CEO Jesse Rosen discusses “an exciting shift that is happening in our field, a shift away from the false debate between quality and access,” exemplified by Gustavo Dudamel and the Los Angeles Philharmonic’s recent trip to Venezuela to collaborate with the young musicians of El Sistema, and the Knoxville Symphony’s expanding partnerships with local hospitals.
