In Friday’s (3/8) Denver Business Journal, L. Wayne Hicks writes, “The Colorado Symphony Orchestra on Thursday unveiled its schedule for the 2012-13 season, which begins Sept. 28, but a new program to take the musicians beyond their home at Boettcher Concert Hall is still under wraps. Highlights of next season include appearances by Debbie Reynolds, the Preservation Hall Jazz Band and pianist Lang Lang, and programs that pay tribute to Clyfford Still, Van Gogh and Barbra Streisand. … The current season has been roiled by financial difficulties that prompted the cancellation in October of 10 fall concerts (two were later rescheduled and another three programs added), the ouster of the orchestra’s CEO and the abrupt departure of 20 board members. Gene Sobczak, the new president and CEO, said last month that the coming season would include concerts beyond Boettcher as a way to bring in additional revenue. An announcement on those concerts is expected in the next four to six weeks.”
